2011 Jaguar Sport Cars Bertone Race Car B99 Concept

2011 Jaguar Sport Cars Bertone Race Car B99 Concept
Bertone will present not only the Luxury Sport Sedan in Geneva but also a full GT2 race version, maintaining the exceptional "double soul" tradition of the Jaguar brand, adding high speed aerodynamic appendages and aggressive graphics for continued success on the race track. Bertone will also present a full-race GT2 variant of the 2011 Jaguar Sport Cars Bertone Race Car B99 Concept at the 2011 Geneva show. The name B99 stands for B as in Bertone and 99 for the company near 100 year anniversary in 2012, one of the oldest design companies in the world. The concept projects Jaguar's classic style into the future with refined Bertone elegance, exploring a fascinating new form language with a "dynamic imbalance" between parallel lines and leaping forms.

In terms of technological innovation, the 2011 Jaguar Sport Cars Bertone Race Car B99 Concept uses a full hybrid long range power system tuned by Bertone Energy (the newest Bertone division dedicated to renewable energy research). Bertone has been studying alternative powertrains for the past twenty years, with many examples including full electric "extreme" concept cars like the 1992 Blitz or 1994 Zer record car, which was the first full electric car to break the 300 km/h speed barrier in the world.

With the 2011 Jaguar Sport Cars Bertone Race Car B99 Concept, Bertone establishes a new record in its 99 year history as the only Italian designer to have created five different Jaguars. The previous models are the 1957 XK 150, produced in a limited edition of four copies, the 1966 Jaguar FT concept car, the 1967 Jaguar Pirana, and 1977Jaguar Ascot.

As for all the techie goodness, among the additions found on the interior of the B99 are trumpet gauges wrapped in aluminum and suspended between the wing and the dashboard, a discrete multi-media screen, “Ebony Macasar African Wood, and air vents that are partly hidden just behind the car’s wrap-around wing. On top of that, there’s also an infotainment controller that rises from the 2011 Jaguar Sport Cars Bertone Race Car B99 Concept’s center console.

Just like with a lot of high-grade cars these days, the 2011 Jaguar Sport Cars Bertone Race Car B99 Concept comes with its own powertrain in the form of a 1.4-liter gas engine with 168 horsepower that goes together with two 150 kW motors - each motor has 201 horsepower apiece - rounding out the total output to around 570 horsepower while only emitting 30g/km of CO2.

Bertone didn’t divulge any pricing information on the 2011 Jaguar Sport Cars Bertone Race Car B99 Concept so your guess is as good as ours. Jaguar and Bertone are pegging the car as a future luxury car so we expect the price tag attached to this baby to hit somewhere around $70,000 to $80,000.
2011 Jaguar Sport Cars Bertone Race Car B99 Concept
Looking since this is a concept, the 2011 Jaguar Sport Cars Bertone Race Car B99 Concept still offers a ways to go prior to it is delivered the green light for production. But from what we have looked of the car so quick, we wouldn’t be shocked if this mysterious concept discovers its way past a dream of pipe and into production lines real immediately.

2011 Jaguar Sport Cars Bertone Jaguar B99 Concept
The 2011 Jaguar Sport cars Bertone Jaguar B99 Concept is a team effort between Jag and Bertone and serves as way for Bertone to celebrate its 99th Anniversary. The new compact Jag's name is a melding of the company's first initial and its age. Bertone says the concept is a design study in what it calls "dynamic imbalance" between parallel lines and "leaping forms."
2011 Jaguar Sport Cars Bertone Jaguar B99 Concept
The 2011 Jaguar Sport cars Bertone Jaguar B99 Concept result is a compact, four-door sedan (4.5 m long, 1.35 m tall, 1.95 m wide, 2.8 m wheelbase) that fits perfectly into the D segment. Starting with a classic three-volume architecture, Bertone designers have shaped the taut, muscular body with bold yet refined character, entirely constructed with handmade aluminum panels in true Italian "coachbuilder" tradition. The unique personality of the luxury sports sedan is emphasized by the sophisticated minimalism outside and in, underlining the true nature of the British authenticity where understatement equals exclusiveness.

In terms of technological innovation, the 2011 Jaguar Sport cars Bertone Jaguar B99 Concept uses a pure hybrid power system designed and developed by Bertone Energy (the newest Bertone division dedicated to renewable energy research), including a thermal engine for range extension and two electric motors which provide propulsion for the rear wheels. Bertone has been studying ecologically sustainable powertrain systems for the past twenty years, with many examples including full-electric "extreme" concept cars like the 1992 Blitz or 1994 Zer record car, which was the first full-electric car to break the 300 km/h speed barrier in the world. With the 2011 Jaguar Sport Cars Bertone Jaguar B99 Concept, Bertone establishes a new record in its 99 year history as the only Italian designer to have created five different Jaguars.

These renderings of the 2011 Jaguar Sport Cars Bertone Jaguar B99 Concept have been leaked ahead of its official debut March 1st at the Geneva Auto Show, giving a hint at how Jaguar intends to style its new entry-level luxury sports sedan. According to recent reports, however, this new model won’t be the first new Jag to debut, with a rumored XE compact sports car planned for next year.

Measuring 4.5 meters long, 1.95 meters wide, and 1.35 meters high with a 2.8-meter wheelbase, the B99 has the dimensions to make a run at the luxury sport car segment. That is if the car ever makes it to production.

So when talking about powertrains, the 2011 Jaguar Sport Cars Bertone Jaguar B99 Concept blows the top-level 3-Series out of the water with the latter’s 4.0-liter V8 engine with 414 horsepower compared to the B99’s 1.4-liter gas engine combined with the two 150 kW motors, producing a total of 570 horsepower. Conversely, the Mercedes C-Class also falls short in the engine department compared to the 2011 Jaguar Sport Cars Bertone Jaguar B99 Concept with its 3.5-liter V6 engine that produces 302 horsepower.

"Performance through innovation" is one of Jaguars slogans, and today more than ever powerful sports cars must find new responsible ways to offer both high performance and ecological sustainability. The 2011 Jaguar Sport Cars Bertone Jaguar B99 Concept is powered by a modular, Extended Range Hybrid system which futuristic utilizes twin 150kW (204 Cv) electric engines connected to the inboard side of the rear axle for propulsion and a lightweight 1.400 cm3 thermal engine producing 125 kW-170 Cv for range extension, giving a combined power output of 425 kW or 570 Cv. The thermal engine charges the Lithium-ion batteries while driving allowing for a theoretical range of 700 kilometers of highway driving between fill-ups with a carbon dioxide output of around 30 g Co2/km. The 2011 Jaguar Sport Cars Bertone Jaguar B99 Concept can also travel in full electric mode offering zero emissions for 100kms.
2011 Jaguar Sport Cars Bertone Jaguar B99 Concept
Designed by Bertone’s chief of design, American Michael Robinson, the 2011 Jaguar Sport Cars Bertone Jaguar B99 Concept blends shapely surfacing with powerful proportions. “It is a typical Jaguar,” says Robinson. The classic cat-inspired rear haunch lends itself to Jaguar’s heritage, and the C-pillar is much more formal than that of the current Ian Callum- designed XJ and XF models. The B99 also sports a bit of concept car showmanship with its rear-hinged suicide doors and B-pillarless cabin.
2011 Jaguar Sport Cars Bertone Jaguar B99 Concept
Despite the shapely body concours, there is little else in the way of ornamentation save for the chrome window surrounds, front fender vent and Jaguar “leaper” on the hood. Bertone characterizes this as a “minimalist luxury sports sedan.” It is a nice blend of tradition and modernity.
2011 Jaguar Sport Cars Bertone Jaguar B99 Concept
That tradition is also apparent in the interior’s large swaths of wood veneer and leather. The stylish cabin would help the 2011 Jaguar Sport Cars Bertone Jaguar B99 Concept command luxury prices, while at the same time allowing its clientele to feel socially responsible as a result of the unique powertrain.

UPDATE 03/08/11: According to Automotive News, Jaguar was not impressed by the 2011 Jaguar Sport Cars Bertone Jaguar B99 Concept and will not put it to production: "It is not our concept. We appreciate the fact that Jaguar is interesting enough for people to do a concept around. It’s not that we are offended by it, or against it — it is just not for us." Jaguar has plans to enter new market segments by 2014, but this will be done with their own work: "We have concepts all over the place. A lot of work has been done," said Adrian Hallmark, Jaguar’s global brand director.

Jaguar xf

Jaguar has given its mid-size XF saloon a face-lift and a brand new engine to bring it up to speed with the competition as well as the rest of the Jag range. Introduced in 2008, the XF was the first serious step by Jaguar toward shedding its traditionalist image and becoming truly competitive in its segment.History has shown that, given these two cars’ respective target demographics, the smaller, cheaper, sportier XF should really be more contemporary looking than the loping (but ultimately quite sporty) limousine that is the XJ. The front end now benefits from the sleeker

headlamps and upright grille that made their conceptual debut on the C-XF in 2007, but disappointingly only made production on 2010’s XJ. This is allegedly because then-owners Ford had rather lopsidedly already completed the production XF’s design before creating the striking CX-F concept to wow customers. This too is an expression of the brand’s independence as, under Ford ownership, horizontal vents were the strict reserve of Jaguar’s posher stable-mate, Aston Martin. The XF’s range was thus far limited to just three engines – a petrol V6, a diesel V6 (in two states of tune) and the petrol V8, either naturally aspirated or supercharged. With eco-consciousness becoming a major concern in the executive and luxury segments, Jaguar has answered the call with the XF’s first four-cylinder engine.
All models get an engine stop-start feature and have their six-speed automatic replaced with a far more advanced eight-speed unit as standard.

Jaguar xj

Sleek, sporting and sophisticated, the all-new Jaguar XJ brings a daring new spirit to automotive luxury. It offers a seductive mix of striking design, breathtaking performance and engineering without compromise.

The new Jaguar XJ is the epitome of fluid, contemporary automotive style. The elongated teardrop shape of the side windows establishes the car's silhouette and lies at the heart of its flowing design. And the new Jaguar XJ doesn't just look streamlined: it shares a drag coefficient of 0.29 with the Jaguar XF saloon, making them the most aerodynamic Jaguars ever.
Even if Jaguar has just unveiled a facelift for the old XJ, this is not the only news coming to us. In 2009 the company will unveil a totally redesigned model, with design cues taken from the latest C-XF Concept and from the upcoming XF sedan. Even if the new generation XJ will be built on the current aluminum platform, everything on the exterior will be changed.

More recently the 2010 Jaguar XJ was unveiled by late night funny man Jay Leno and the beautiful super model Claudia Schiffer. The all-new XJ is the first Jaguar model to be built using Jaguar’s aerospace-inspired aluminum body technology. The vehicle will be available with a choice of new ultra-efficient Gen III classification petrol and diesel engines consisting of a 3.0 Liter diesel V6, a 5.0 Liter naturally aspirated V8 as well as the almighty 5.0 Liter supercharged 8 cylinder power plant.

Silverstone Organisers Ask: What is the Best British Sports Car of All Time?

The fifteen finalists in the Silverstone Classic’s, “Best British Sports Car of All Time” vote-in have been announced, and boy is there some choice picks. Before we get to that though, can I just point out a misnomer in using the, “of All Time” qualifier?
This assumes (prophetically?) that Britain will not be making any more sports cars in the future, whereas, “Best British Sports Car So Far” would be a far more accurate description. But enough with semantics: who are our lucky finalists?

They Should Have Built It: 2000 Jaguar F-Type Concept

With the E-Type of 1961, Jaguar was back in a big way. Essentially a spiritual successor to the legendary XK120 of the 1940s and ‘50s, the E-Type had everything going for it: looks, performance and price.
Since then, much has changed for the brand. The malaise of the 1970s, the reliability woes of the ‘80s and the reheated design language of the ‘90s all placed a burden on the Big Cat.
Then, at the 2000 North American International Auto Show (NAIAS), Jaguar unveiled the F-Type Concept to the world. And by God was it a stunner. The lines were simple yet provocative; the interior refreshingly Spartan and functional for a concept car.

Hot Jaguar XKR-S Rendered as a Convertible

Swayed by recent media reports from Britain, Carscoop reader L il-k Amaru returned to his virtual drawing board and photoshoped a convertible version of the hardcore Jaguar XKR-S, which was unwrapped in coupe format at the 2011 Geneva Salon this past March.
If the rumors about the XKR-S Convertible turn out to be true, expect the open top model to feature the same styling and performance modifications as the coupe.
